This Worldly Whirl

Speaking of merry-go-rounds, this merry old earth of ours goes
around and around continuously and there is no getting off until
we reach our living's end. But it is a lovely and exciting ride and
there is a lot to see so hang on tight and enjoy while we may this
worldly whirl.

The world revolves and most of us appreciate the lift
although we can't charter it's course, we couldn't even
if we tried.
We pay no fare to go nowhere, just simply sit on top of
a gyroscopic whirl-a-gig we neither stop or start.
But someday, we'll slip away to quieter realms far away
where you can find eternal rest upon some twinkling star.
And from that vantage point in space we'll turn our light
upon this merry-go-round we once rode here still wildly
spinning on.
