Pleasures

Pleasures are often like a bubble, so airy, light, and iridescent, freely they blossom like red poppies,
but when you pluck them, the beauty is spent.
Pleasures are transient and go like the dawn fleeting
away like the swift startled squirrel, lightly they fall
like snow in fair weather for one moment gone then
vanished forever.
Pleasures are fleeting but eagerly sought, battles were
fought and crowns have been lost that we might woo
pleasure, the poor fickle gold, but once we have won it,
the charms quickly fade.
