Call for the mourning women,
Send for skillful women to hail;
For watching the morning sun,
God makes the new day unveil.

Allow them all to make haste,
Raise a wailing over us;
For there is no time to waste,
Seeing the marvel as thus.

The eyes may run down with tears,
Eyelids flowing with water;
God comforts and calms your fears,
Of any son or daughter.

For sounds of wailing is heard,
How we are ruined and shamed;
Because of leaving the Word,
No longer have we proclaimed.

Heed to the Word of the Lord,
Let your ear receive as taught;
Not letting it be ignored,
Teach daughters to lament not.

For death has come to this place,
It has entered the palace;
Killing children in disgrace,
Having such vengeful malice.

Dead bodies of men will fall,
Like dung on an open field;
Sheaves the reapers will haul,
But none shall gather the yield.

Let not any wise man boast,
In the wisdom of His own;
Instead the Holy Ghost,
That the Lord would condone.

Let Him who boasts understand,
Practice in the steadfast love;
In which the Lord would command,
From His sacred throne above.

For in these things He delights,
Since the day is coming near;
When people will see their rights,
In having their mournful fears.

You dwell in the wilderness,
In nations uncircumcised;
Uncircumcised God not bless,
All of those who has despised.
