Did what is good cause my death,
Rather death is made by sin;
For sin controls heart and breath,
Corruption decays within.

That through the commandment,
As sinful beyond measure;
Being disobedient,
Honoring earthly treasure.

For we know about the Law,
And spiritual in nature;
But sin sells flesh to a flaw,
Departing from the Scripture.

For I do not understand,
All of which I am doing;
Not practicing each command,
That I should be pursuing.

I practice not what I should,
Rather doing what I hate;
And remember what is good,
So, I do not seal my fate.

If I do my desire,
What the Law would allow not;
Then the lake of fire,
As God will judge my onslaught.

I agree the Law is good,
So, I no longer do bad;
Only doing what I should,
No longer with feeling sad.

But sin is living in me,
For nothing good lives within;
Since sin controls what I see,
For I have no discipline.

No secret about evil,
I do not wish to do it;
But enticed by the devil,
Persists as to pursue it.

What a wretched man am I,
Will Christ rescue me and bless;
From times that I cheat and lie,
Accepting as I confess.
