How still the limpid waters lie,
a silvered mirror for the clouds;
an emerald jewel closely placed
against the earth's soft rounded
chest; close with cow-clipped
pastures ripe, it's edges bound
with weed and rush where sparrows
and blackbirds join harmonies
along it's brink, and the gray geese
winging south, drop down to rest
along their flight.
