You may live a saintly life for more than a dozen years, 
still none will spoil the growing grass beating to your door.
But dispense some sprightly samples of the standard brands of vice,
and they'll trample barb-wire fences in an effort to get in.
You may live the life intended for a decent kindly person,
and your closest next-door neighbors will never know you're nigh,
but just leave the straight and narrow to detour away from tact,
and they'll put your name in headlines, printing pixels of your face.
Why are honest folks neglected? Surely they should make the news,
just as well as some sad offender, with a belly full of liquor.
But the papers fail to mention any noble acts you do,
yet they publish your transgressions be they ever small or meager.
