Rain may be restful or it may raise hell but it is refreshing. It may beat a twittering mark
across the rooftops or splatter down the drive but it ever leaves us feeling a little cooler,
a little cleaner. Cleansing a tired and dusty world, nothing spreads such soothing solace
as restful rain.
Tense, tired, I fret in my home, then soft, I hear
upon my window the tapping fingers of rain.
So I must be a child again and with me dances
on the ground, a million skipping feet of rain.
Then strangely, my troubles wash away, for
sweetly soothed is troubled mind by misty kisses
of the rain.
