"Man wants but little here below."
So wrote a bold poet,
But I have found that what he wants
Changed as he grows older.
At three he wants to be like dad;
At six a fireman;
At twelve he'd he be a soldier;
And next he wants renown
As a member of a football team;
About this time he meets a girl
And thinks she would be in heaven;
Then next he yearns for riches;
But later hopes to make ends meet
Or hopes to keep his health;
At last, we find the self-same guy
Is giving his thoughts
To trusting he'll live long enough
To rate and old age pension.
