Give an ear to what I have taught,
Incline your ear unto the Word;
Adhering to the life you sought,
Think not of them to be absurd.

I will speak of a parable.
Utter a dark saying of old;
That still is merely viable,
To generations have been told.

The things that we have heard and known,
That our fathers have explained;
And have been etched in solid stone,
In the future will be proclaimed.

We will not hide them from the truth,
But pass to each generation;
Through the offspring of our youth,
That they receive inspiration.

For the wondrous deeds of the Lord,
Might and wonders that He has done;
That they never to be ignored,
To recognize He had begun.

He laid out a testimony,
And having appointed a Law;
All genuine, not a phony,
To teach how not to get a flaw.

So that the next generation,
Might know them that has not been born;
To become a new creation,
Unto the place, they will sojourn.

Arise so that they set their hope,
Not to forget the works of God;
Of the adversities to cope,
Always giving honor and laud.

They should not be like their father,
Being stubborn and rebellious;
Righteousness will take them farther,
Others are lustfully jealous.

Be faithful to God and righteous,
To Him be steadfast in your heart;
Always being conscientious,
Doing what is right from the start
