Rubber swimming pool on the apartment lawn.
Splashing jumping yelling laughing that's what
they are doing. No age limit. Some own a drivers
license. Some ride in the cars. Heat index high.
Good excuses not to work. It all comes from up
above. Other times from down below.

The fallen state. The mountains rise. Treaties, prairie
law, peace and troublemakers. Nobody owns the
barren hills, yet some stake a claim on them.

Sun-streaked bushes. Stream of consciences. Bent
toes and slender fingers. Gas pumps not working.
It is partly cloudy and there are not enough people
to keep the score.
