Great is the Lord to be praised,
In the city of our God;
His holy mountain is raised,
While we honor and laud.

Beautiful elevation,
Is the joy of all the earth;
Mount Zion has salvation,
In the city that gave birth.

God is known as a refuge,
Citadels for a fortress;
Sanctuary that is huge,
For the comfort from distress.

Behold the Kings assembled,
In the chamber they gather;
Thoughts of the Lord has trembled,
Caused them to come together.

Because they were astounded,
They were troubled and marveled;
From thundering that sounded,
As each of them had rivaled.

Trembling took hold of them there,
Anguished as women in labor;
By the east wind hard to bear,
As they looked at their neighbor.

For the city of the Lord,
On the mountain we have seen;
Where we have loved and adored,
As to the place we have been.

We thought of the steadfast love,
When in the midst of His temple;
It flowed down from up above,
On all His righteous people.

Far away your praise reaches,
You are filled with righteousness;
From the Scriptures that teaches,
Is calming the restlessness.

Walk about throughout Zion,
Praising the Lord forever;
Your praise roar like a lion,
Not letting your faith sever.
