My Stronghold

The Lord is my salvation,
To whom would I ever fear;
Makes a solid foundation,
A shining light to revere.

The Lord has been the stronghold,
Of whom shall I be afraid;
While my life does unfold,
Present to render me aid.

Evildoers assail me,
My flesh desire to eat;
Stumble since they cannot see,
To what is tripping their feet.

Their army encamps near me,
But my heart shall never fear;
I am confident to be,
Having the Lord always near.

I desire of one thing,
From the Lord that I will seek;
Dwell in the House of the King,
My prayers include that I speak.

Dwell in the House of the Lord,
All of the days of my life;
As His beauty is adored,
For He shields me from the strife.

I wonder in His temple,
For sheltering me to hide;
Concealing from the people,
Who oppress as I abide.

He lifts me upon the rock,
For in the time of concern;
Assuring me through His talk,
He protects where I sojourn.

Now my head is lifted high,
Above my foes around me;
Sacrifices of joy cry,
Makes melody to decree.
