Ride your horse to the river.
Don't accept every thought.
The sun rising from the horizon.
The heat wrapped in still air. The
senator calling for safe voting.
It's the end of the line. Did you
pay off your loans for the degree
hanging on your wall? I am not
cosmic or a cowboy but I don't
mind riding horses. I want to walk
in the fields where there are only
flowers and no crowds. But the air
is thick and the frogs are croaking
at the moon. Many souls in the
night are undone.
