Please preserve me, O God,
In You I take refuge;
Cleanse me where I am flawed,
Because the burdens are huge.

For I put my trust in You,
Because of You as my Lord;
Always as faithful and true,
I remain in one accord.

I am not good without You,
Goodness extends not in me;
It seems all I say or do,
Only darkness do I see.

As for the saints in the land,
They are the excellent ones;
All my delight as they stand,
As Your daughters and sons.

The sorrows of those who run,
To false gods shall multiply;
Some are worshipping the sun,
Blood offerings when clouds cry.

Blood offerings I pour not,
Tasting not on lips or tongue;
The one true God who I sought,
With praise and songs to be sung.

You are my chosen portion,
And my cup You hold my lot;
For You have caused formation,
Revealing every thought.

The lines have fallen for me,
In pleasant places indeed;
An inheritance to see,
The only thing that I need.

I bless You Lord as guidance,
My heart instructs me at night;
Ensuring obedience,
That I remain in the light.

I shall never be shaken,
Being sheltered by Your wing;
For I am not forsaken,
Whatever each day will bring.
