Scathed and frustrated
Mumbling
Yearning for clarity
Strength
The biggest crime is
That you allow them to
Be their captor
All this crying out
You’re the victim
It’s a surefire miss
You’ll never kiss
The puritanical lips
Of an angel
While being a slave to the Devil
For purity seems awfully boring.

There is an answer
A way out of the malaise
This dragging down of a life
That saps all the energy
And darkens the heart
Convolutes the mind
Desecrates the soul
Oh Lord, I need you
I’m sorry I haven’t lived
Up to your great expectations
You know I’m capable
Of so much more
I don’t need satisfaction
At the expense of others misery
You love me unconditionally
Through and through
But I’ve got to do my share
But it’s hard to find the fortitude
Within the weariness.
