Despite the trials and tribulations
You’re constantly on my mind
I’ve given you plenty of reasons
Not to stay
But deep inside this soul
I’m certain we will be together
Until our dying breath.

If given the chance
I would rectify the past
But in regret, I remain stuck
And I desire to move forward
There’s too much love
To simply throw away
You’ve done your part
It’s time I do mine
Half hearted
Just won’t do.

A fool may be ignorant
Or succumb to complacency
I’m guilty on both counts
I’ve spent too much time in my head
Feeling inferior comparing myself
To those I deemed superior
And while the truth lies in between
The difference is that I strive for accountability
And desire civility even when it doesn’t go my way.

I can say sorry
Until it’s devoid of meaning
I can overreact to try to get attention
But at the end of the day
You want the man
You fell for and it’s
In my power to bring that to you.
