AS FAR BACK AS I REMEMBER

Even as being just a kid around our townThe fruit hanging over a fence along the way
Always seem to taste better by ever so far
On any given day one could honestly say
We had fruit trees of our very own at home
But a edible ripe piece hanging over some
Was begging to be tasted by a passer by
As if saying pick me I;m waiting for you chum
And out of town wild blackberries growing free
A kid could spend most of the day filling up true
Mulbery trees down by the river side growing
Until our faces were purple how I loved them too
Plum trees along our local creek a plenty there
Black and yellow and large and very round growing
Sweet corn that grew through a fence as well too
Locate trees large full juicey fruit off I'd be going
We never went hungry aways back then early days
Then off to the creek for a drink of running water
Just when the day could not get any better at all
Along came often the local farmers daughter
AHH HAA she'd say caught you red handed there
But maube we could strike a kind of little deal
Come with me I'll show you where there's grapes
You might get to know how farmersdaughters feel
I'd walk in at home big smile on my face ever wide
OK what you been up to today may I ask my son
Nothing much pretty boring so to speak I say
Well country boys how they love a little fun
