They had a ritual that they'd always do-
Light a camp fire and boil the billy
For a cup of bush billy boiled tea it's true-
"http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tracymay27/?action=view¤t=firstone.jpg" target="_blank">
To this day they do the same every chance
And when it's time for smoko too-
They light a small camp fire and put on the billy
For a cup of Australian billy boiled brew-
"http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tracymay27/?action=view¤t=billy10.jpg" target="_blank">
There is nothing that tastes as good
As a cup of billy boiled country tea-
Boiled in a small camp fire lit for same
In the shade under a big old thick gum tree-

They almost fill their tea billy with water
And wait for it to almost boil-
It can hang there on a hook above the fire
Or sit near the fire in ashes or on the soil-

When it is almost to where it boils away
They throw in an amount off tea leaves then-
And give it awhile to boil some more
Sitting back waiting a little till when-
"http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tracymay27/?action=view¤t=billy5.jpg" target="_blank">
Taking it off the fire with stick or poker
They'll tap it on the side for tea leaves to sink-
Then pour a cup of hot bush Australian billy tea
Look at each other and give a grin or wink-
"http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tracymay27/?action=view¤t=billy11.jpg" target="_blank">
Nothing tastes a good as it does it's true
Made only in camp fire as there's no other way-
Try to boil that billy by any other means
And it will never taste the same all bushman say-
"http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tracymay27/?action=view¤t=billy7.jpg" target="_blank">
A little sugar to taste and sit back and enjoy
No more refreshing drink or country brew-
Than to sit under the shade of a big old gum
And have a cup of Australian billy boiled tea it's true-
