For although I am free from all,
I have been a servant to them;
That I might win over who fall,
As to the Lord will not condemn.

To the Jews I became a Jew,
In order that I just might gain;
Those under the Law might pursue,
Avoiding the torment and pain.

To those who are outside the Law,
Outside the Law was where I am;
That they would confess of their flaw,
Baptized in the blood of the lamb.

Unto the weak I became weak,
So, temptation would never win;
And that they go to God to seek,
For cleansing them from all their sin.

I do this for the Gospel’s sake,
That I may share in its blessing;
Causing them to become awake,
About our Savior and King.

Do you not know that in a race,
Only one will receive a prize;
So run that you may obtain grace,
For insight to open your eyes.

Everyone exerts self-control.
For the imperishable crown;
Striving to condition their soul,
Smiling to wipe away the frown.

So, I do not run aimlessly,
I don’t box in beating the air;
Although I am not blamelessly,
Being as a human who does care.

But my body I discipline,
In keeping it under control;
As I preach for avoiding sin,
Striving to condition my soul.
