The Sleeping Buddha Arousing the Senses

In this room of silence, a Buddhist influence fills the air, captivating my senses.
It infiltrates my mind, and fills my nostrils with the sent of burning Ylang-ylang
In the far corner a golden statue of Buddha sits, some what proudly on the mantel-piece
with my magenta prayer beads wrapped ornately around him; as if to emphasise religious
spirituality and beliefs.
The faint smell of burnt sulphur from matches lingers in the air, like ghostly vapours
from a smouldering spectre in the night. As the candles filled the air with an aroma of
melon and gin-sing, it blended with my already aromatic filled senses.
The sleeping Buddha stays still, as its silhouette from the candle’s light dances on the
opposite wall, like a jewelled spirit, idolised by its believers, in a room where the candles
light is extinguished at the end of each prayer session.
After praying for my convictions, and asking for goodness and health for the human
population, I blew out the candles and left with an empty mind, after some peaceful dark
room meditation. All that was left was the smell of sulphur and perfumed flowers, as this
small oasis of calm and tranquillity springs to life.
In this room of the holy Buddhist mantra, I heard the sounds of the Tibetan flute in my
mind been played in the distance, by a Buddhist monk that lived high up inside the caves
of the Tibetan mountains.
As I closed my eyes, my mind became free, while I pondered endlessly about the human
conditioning, as the smell of incense filled my thoughts with spiritual awakening.
