The Lord is my chosen portion,
My inheritance and my cup;
He shields me from the extortion,
From the darkness from all gossip.

For the lines have fallen for me,
Of a pleasant inheritance;
As I am waiting patiently,
Being free of my penitence.

I bless the Lord who gives counsel,
In the night my heart instructs me;
Impure thoughts that He will cancel,
Replacing with insight to see.

I have set the Lord before me,
I shall not be shaken or moved;
By His right hand He set me free,
My comprehension has behooved.

My heart is glad as I rejoice,
Because my flesh will dwell secure;
I rest in hope to hear His voice,
While His Word does reassure.

God will not abandon my soul,
Or suffer from the corruption;
For He is willing to condole,
Caused by the devil’s disruption.

He has shown me the path of life,
Where there’s a fullness of gladness;
Pleasure that overcomes the strife,
Forevermore without sadness.
