Reflections from the Past

I look into the mirror and what is it that I see.
A young boy with wide eyes staring back at me
The hurt and pain was written on his face,
he seamed lost and confused, and a little out
of place.
In the glint of gilded glass, I saw a child full
of misery, stranded in a world of mayhem and
mystery. Caught in time like pages of written
history.
In a patch of blackened sky, there is a distant
star I think about the past, and wonder; how
have I come this far?
I look into the mirror and see reflections from
the past I talked to a boy of ten and realised
that it was actually me. I stood there wondering
what was going through my mind way back then.
Standing there in the lamp – light, in a room with
no sun light, hiding from the world outside as I
take life in my stride. I took a glance at the other part
of me and saw the child that I always wanted to be.
Reflections from the past, in distant dreams that last,
I stand alone in frozen time.
Here with the sound of laughter; that distant rapture
that simple tone. Mirror, mirror upon the wall, when
will I be a hero of fortune, when can I stand so tall?
In that gilded gleam, that place holds a dream, one of
love, one of light.
And one that holds a sweet kiss, formed with sunshine
and starlight.
I look into the mirror, and what is it that I see.
I glimpse years gone by, I see blue, blue sky and birds
singing in my favourite tree, the one I spent hours
sitting under, as the clouds above passed by.
When you hang upon the wall framed in all your golden
glory, you wait, suspended in silence, until some one else
comes along, and remembers a long lost child-hood story.

Another awesome poem as you recall and remember so creatively. Great interesting muse indeed. Kudos.
