Put Yourself in Their Shoes

The night sky lights up with orange, yellow, red and crimson. As the bombs rain down onto what was once a thriving city. The market place becomes a distorted mass of burning metal and corpses lay blood-soaked where they fell.

The eerie silence of genocide lingers in the air, while timbers smoulder and burn; all around, is like a vision from hell. The ever constant sound of rapid fire, from the hills, echoes across the valley. As people seek refuge in bunkers, daring not to cross over the boundaries; where they would be cut to shreds by yards of razor wire.

Screams of terror and fear ricochet between the bomb damaged shells of people's homes, as men are brutally tortured, with a single bullet to finish them off. Reporters broadcast the untruthful, because they know of only what they find and not what they witness. News crews capture soldiers beating an unarmed man, but can not intervene.

(What would you do)? Put yourself in their shoes, just for one day. Change places then see what you would say. All around you, children are dying, mothers are crying, a brother and sister, son, daughter, how many more must be added to the slaughter? And amongst the ruins, there must be hope. How else will the survivors cope? They search for loved ones and count the cost. And grieve for those close to them, which they have lost.
