In the end
You declare
The ship has yet to sail
Yet one constantly bruised
By refusal to turn the other cheek
While the bully is
Granted a free pass
No one wants to challenge him or her
Without giving a second thought
That beneath the aggressive bluster
Is a coward of the highest order.

So, hold onto your beliefs
Don’t let the ungrateful parasites
Or the egotistical elitists
Scupper your efforts to be compassionate
Helpful
The keen eye for the underdog
The razor sharp intuition
To see through the veil
Cause they either want you
To join them or bail
Losing sense of purpose
So they can mock you
Always in a crowd
Holding a megaphone
A technological mind numbing
Loss of communication
Mute
Crippled.

You can be like all the rest
Just to feel safe
Secure in numbers
But if one dares
To intensely look
One will find that it’s all been an illusion
I don’t know about you
But I’m trying to secure a place
Without selling my integrity and soul.
