While we all want to be happy, joy is the peaceful, confident assurance of Your love and work in the lives You have given us (NLT, 2629). In other words, happiness depends on circumstances and joy depends on You (NLT, 2629). True joy comes from You alone and You inspired the Apostle Paul to write this joy letter from a prison cell and he learned to be content even though he was in prison (NLT, 2629). Joy is a dominant theme in this letter and the secret of the joy You have given Your Apostle Paul is his relationship with You, who still reigns no matter what happens (NLT, 2630). I can become mature by being so identified with You that Your attitude of humility and self-sacrifice becomes mine and growth also requires self-discipline, obedience to Your Word, and concentration on my part plus the development of my character begins with Your Work in me (NLT, 2630). In Philippians 1:6, You promise that You who began a good work within me will continue Your Work until it is finally finished on the day when Your Son returns (NLT, 2631). In Philippians 1:10, You want us to understand what really matters, so that we may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Your Son's return (NLT, 2632). I need to remember Paul's inspiring example when hindrances, small or large, slow down our work for You (NLT, 2632). Family conflict is one source of discouragement and I am asking that You please prosper them in the name of Jesus Christ (NLT, 2632). I need to be an encouragement by the way that I live (NLT, 2632). I need to take an interest in others and I need to have the same attitude that you had (Philippians 2:4-5, NLT, 2635). Selfishness brings discord and humility involves have a true perspective about ourselves (NLT, 2635). Showing genuine interest in others is a positive step forward in maintaining unity among believers and You were humble enough to give up Your rights in order to obey God and serve people (NLT, 2635). I can look for opportunities to serve others and my motivation is to serve You, who limited Your power and knowledge in submission to Your Father's Will (NLT, 2635). It's Your freedom from sin that made Your humanity unique, Lord (NLT, 2635). You have always existed with God and You are equal to God because You are God (NLT, 2635). In Philippians 2:6-11, You reveal that You did not think of equality with God as something to cling to though You were God and You gave up Your divine privileges; You took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When You appeared in human form, You humbled Yourself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross. Therefore, God evaluated You to the place highest honor and gave You the name above all other names, that at name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (NLT, 2636). In Philippians 2:13, You promise that You are working in me, giving me the desire and the power to do what pleases You (NLT, 2363). The secret to a changed life is to submit to Your control and let You work (NLT, 2636). Freedom in You means taking every opportunity to serve and to become the best person I can be (NLT, 2641). Those who struggle with pain, physical limitations, or disabilities can have wonderful hope in the resurrection (NLT, 2641). Ultimate joy comes from You dwelling within us and I need to turn my worries into prayers (NLT, 2642). True peace comes from knowing that You are in control (NLT, 2643). You are the goal, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit (NLT, 2643). I need to put Your Word into practice and exposure to Your Word must lead to obedience (NLT, 2643). Philippians 4:17: "I don't say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness (NLT, 2644). Paul had his priorities straight, and he was grateful for everything You had given him (NLT, 2644). He had learned the true secret of joy and peace is imitating You and serving others (NLT, 2645). We can live confidently for You because we have Your Grace with us (NLT, 2645). Favorite Favorite Comment Comment Share Share
