The purpose of this book is to offer encouragement to Your followers who are suffering, which has many forms: physical abuse, debilitating disease, social ostracism, persecution, etc (NLT, 2779). You will punish evildoers and those who persecute Your people (NLT, 2781). According to 1 Peter 1:5, "And through Your faith, God is protecting you by His power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see (NLT, 2782). In harmony with 1 Peter 1:9, "the reward for trusting Him will be the salvation of your souls (NLT, 2783). The Spirit of Christ is another name for the Holy Spirit, the Counselor whom You have sent to teach, help, and guide Your followers (NLT, 2784). Sincere love involves selfless giving (NLT, 2785). In our individualistic society, it is easy to forget our interdependence with others who follow You (NLT, 2785). When You call me to a task, I need to remember that You are also calling others to work with me (NLT, 2785-2786). The day may come when those who criticize You will praise God with You (NLT, 2787). Freedom is the foundation that You give us to reach our highest potential, which is a call to serve You (NLT, 2787). I need to face being mistrusted with patience, calmness, and confidence that You are in control of the future (NLT, 2788). Submission is functional, relational, reciprocal, and universal (NLT, 2789). This is voluntarily cooperating, or working together with someone out of love and respect for You and Your peopile (NLT, 2789). In 1 Peter 4:10, You confirm that You have given each of us a gift from Your great variety of spiritual gifts and we need to use them well to serve one another (NLT, 2792). The gift of helps is mentioned in 1 Peter 4:11 and I am to help others with all of the strength and energy that You supply so that everything that we do will bring glory to God through You, Jesus Christ. All the glory and power to You forever and ever! Amen(NLT, 2792). Trust overcomes fear and depression (NLT, 2792). All power to You forever! Amen (NLT, 2795 and 1 Peter 5:11).
